Sinister

Out of all the self-portraits I took this one is by far my favorite one. It's the one with the most meaning behind it. When I thought of this picture idea I didn't think it would come out exactly how I wanted it to but it did. I knew this was going to be my black and white portrait as soon as I thought of it. I feel that the black & white effect really completes the image and brings it to life. I feel that this portrait captures my emotions and shows a layer of who I am. The knives represent different things and the fact that I just sit with an unaffected facial expression while the knives point in my direction is very symbolic to me. Nevertheless I'll leave it to the viewer to come up with their own thoughts on what the true representation is. Props to my sister Gloria for helping me by taking this picture and providing the lighting equipment. I'll be honest I wasn't too enthusiastic about this assignment because I didn't want to take pictures of myself it seemed awkward but it wasn't too bad in the end.
